Singapore Roars!

(Scroll down for the National Service blog post)

Just days before Christmas, I was in Singapore for my holidays. My family and I were there for 3 days. The journey to Johor Bahru was dreadful and superbly tiring. We went there by car; the conventional and economical way. But seriously, I'm starting to dislike the highway. Never once before that I'm on the highway for 6 times in 3 weeks. Ehem, the youth camp in Melaka, the KL trip and the Singapore trip. Now, imagine the hours I spent in the car to Johor Bahru. It's so darn boring. Anyway, back to the main topic, we chose to stay in my aunt's place in JB which is quite near the border. And for 3 days in a row, we went through the immigration to Singapore. It may sound crazy but that was what we did. We took the transit bus to Singapore in the morning and return to JB at midnight. Crazy, right?

Our first stop was Bugis. We kind of hanged out at the shopping centres there and of course, Bugis Street. Although this is a street shopping location, things sold there aren't really cheap. That's why u see the Mastercard logo there.

The Golden Compass Christmas Decoration in Bugis.

During the journey to Bugis in the transit bus, we passed by the ACS (Anglo Chinese School) of Singapore. The school looks so awesome even from outside even though it's not as historical as my school (ACS Ipoh). Wasn't able to snap a photo of the building as the bus was moving.

While my mum went down to Orchard with my aunt for shopping, 4 of us (my dad, my sisters and me) took a tour around the City Hall. While my sis experimented on her new DSLR, I took over the old Olympus. It's better than nothing. We simply walked around toward the City Hall Building and snapped some photos of Singapore.

~The City Hall Building~

The Clock Tower ( I'm not sure what buliding is this but that is where the statue of Sir Stamford Raffles located)

~Our Glorious Dead~ ( I believe this is a memorial for World War 1, if I'm not mistaken, because of the year stated on the memorial. 1914 was the year when World War 1 happened.)

I don't have to introduce the Merlion, right? It's a symbol of Singapore.

~ORCHARD ROAD~

Well, Orchard Road is one of the liveliest places in Singapore. Touristy as well. It's a long stretch of pathway where all the big shopping complexes are located. It's Christmas season and the street is heavily decorated. It's a really nice place and a shopping heaven for all.

~I don't jump high, I FLY LOW~

There were quite a number of street performances. Totally salute the guy above. He stayed in the same position for the whole day. I wonder how he did that.

~The Samba Masala Percussion Band~ It's my first time seeing a percussion band in action and it's really cool. I don't know how to comment but for me, they are really good with the instruments and sound very nice and powerful. Maybe a bit lack of 'gaya'.. hmm..

Too difficult for me?!?

NATIONAL SERVICE

I was drafted into the first batch of national service in Sungai Siput, Perak. How lucky I am, right? I wish I could go to somewhere further but that's the way it is. I'm leaving tomorrow and will be away in NS camp until CNY and until March 11. Gotta feel army strong now. Got all sorts of remarks and advices from all sorts of people. My mum is even more 'gan jiong' (nervous) than me. It seems like I'm going to have quite an adventure. I'm having mix feeling (half sad and half excited) now. Really hope I'll enjoy myself. :p

Happy Be-Early New Year! I'll be in NS by then.
